NCMCA was well represented at the September Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Mid-Year Meeting at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in New Hampshire. NCMCA officers including Chairman Bob Gates, President Kent Huntley, President-Elect Danks Burton, Secretary-Treasurer Bo Black, and Vice-President Brandon Hartsell were joined at the meeting by NCMCA member company representatives from Gates Construction, Huntley Brothers, Brodie Contractors, Tucker-Kirby Company, EZG Manufacturing, Triangle Brick, SPEC MIX/Quikrete, Oldcastle, FRACO, Carolina Masonry Unlimited, Pinnacle Masonry, Joyner Masonry, Koontz Masonry, Hydro-Mobile, Federated Insurance, Hohmann & Barnard, and iQ Power Tools. President-Elect Danks Burton’s foursome finished second in the event’s golf tournament after a tie for first was broken with a “putt-off.” The NCMCA team of Gary Joyner, Freddy Koontz, Buddie Barnes, and Terry Ward finished dead last and were awarded the “Most Honest Scorekeeping” prize. At the closing banquet, MCAA Chairman Paul Odom announced that NCMCA President Kent Huntley will be joining the MCAA Executive Board in February, which puts him on a path to the MCAA Chairmanship a few years from now. NCMCA Past President Gary Joyner presently serves as an MCAA Regional Vice President and was recognized at the mid-year board meeting as one of several who have been most successful in soliciting funds/pledges for The MCAA Masonry Foundation. The endowment now holds close to three million dollars. The first grants from the Foundation are to be announced by the first of the year.  Photograph by Tim O'Toole
