Three in a Row!

SpecMix500NCgroup2010WEBFor the third year in a row, North Carolina and NCMCA member firm McGee Brothers Company have claimed the Championship at the Las Vegas World of Masonry Spec Mix Bricklayer 500.  Garrett Hood (top, center) set a new record with more than one thousand brick laid in an hour.  With deductions, his total score was 911.  Hood also won the contest in 2008 so he now has a matched set of Ford F-250 trucks, given as top prize.  25 year-old Hood is no stranger to masonry contest success.  He won the National SkillsUSA High School Masonry Championship in 2001, the NC Department of Labor State Fair Masonry Apprentice Contest later that fall, and won the NCMCA Masonry Apprentice Skills Contest in 2002. Raleigh Chapter Golf 2010

RaleighGolfGroup2010WEBbNCMCA’s Raleigh Chapter held their 11th Annual “Murdell” Myrtle Beach Golf Tournament and Bus Tour the weekend of January 17th.  Participants enjoyed three days of mostly great weather, fellowship and golf on three different courses.  Winners for 2010, tied for second, were the team of Ray Walls, Freddy Koontz, Frank Werner, and Terry Ward, and the team of Dan Sanderson, Tom Hayes, Gary Joyner, and Drew Bullock.  First place went to the team of Bo Black, Doug Burton, John Cramer, and Sheryle Crocker.  Sponsors for the event were Tarheel Commodities, Tucker Kirby Company, Dick Moehring, White Cap Supply, and Trisure Corporation.  All proceeds go toward promoting masonry.

 

 

 

 

 

 


   

Florida Visitors

FloridaVisitorsJan2010webPatrick McLaughlin, Executive Director (left,) and Joyce Rivas (second from left,) Membership Coordinator, of the Masonry Association of Florida paid a two-day visit to NCMCA in January for an exchange of ideas for making stronger masonry contractor associations.  McLaughlin and Rivas attended the NCMCA January Board of Directors Meeting, the January Triad Chapter Monthly Meeting, and held a session with NCMCA past and present leadership in a Raleigh meeting hosted by Pinnacle Masonry.  NCMCA President Gary Manning, second from right, and NCMCA President Larry Kirby greet the Florida visitors before the board meeting.

 

 

 

 


   

Western Carolina Chapter Winter Party
